Something I do alot on the Mac is copy files from one place to another. By default clicking on the Finder icon on the Dock just brings to the front the Finder window you already have open – it doesn’t open a new window. There are a few utilities out there that help you open Finder windows, position them etc, but I wanted something simple so that when I had a Finder Window open, I could just click a button and it would duplicate the view of that Finder window and open it.
Thanks to a script I found on macosxhints I found exactly what I needed, but again I wanted to make it nice and easy, so to add to my Finder Refresh app, I’ve put together Finder Dupe.
So here it is for people that want it:

1. Unzip to your Applications Folder*
2. Open a Finder window.
3. Go to Applications and scroll to “Finder Dupe”
4. Left-click & drag Finder Dupe to the Finder window toolbar – you should see the other icons spread out.
5. Let go of the mouse button and there you go – should look like below.
* If your web browser auto-unzip’s (ie Safari) then “Finder Dupe” will be in your download directory so you can skip Step 1.
From then on just click the button to open a new instance of the currently open Finder window.
Uninstallation: To Remove from the Finder Window, Hold down the Command/Apple key, left click on the icon and drag off the Finder Window – you’ll see your mouse cursor turn into a cloud, at this point let go of your mouse button. Done!
